We shot this latest strange, creepy and wonderful Trolli Candy Commercial in the beautiful city of Austin, Texas, which I had actually never been too before! While a lot of my time there was spent on set, I did get a change to explore this charming, funky, Texas arts town on my down time and most importantly, eat a lot of barbecue (I’m team ribs, but I understand and respect team Briquet.)

My talented co-star was Kevin Saunders traveling in from Atlanta to play Security Guard Mike, and thanks to the visionary Finnish director Nalle Sjöblad Kevin and I were able to stay in the spooky mood while also being given a really long leash my Nalle to improvise, experiment, and be professional goofballs.

The 80’s horror movie vibe was perfectly captured by Cinematographer Max Smeds, who was also instrumental in describing to us exactly what a giant mama gummy worm sneaking up behind us might look like.

The Agency, Digitas North America, and Production team at Spark & Riot were both absolute pros and lovely people, making every step of the way smooth and fun!

The client, Trolli, was also on-set and really let Nalle, Max, Kevin and express our own creativity and explore our own ideas which is always the greatest gift on a commercial shoot where yes, we’re making an ad, but we’re also professional actors, directors, cinematographers coming together to tell a compelling story, one that has to grab audiences attention quickly and earn their time and interest. And thanks to this bombastic, fantastic cast and crew, I think we nailed it. Thanks Trolli.

The unique, um, “wobbly” tip of the Trolli Gummy Popsicle which made it such a viral hit on TikTok and Youtube is made out of gelatin, sugar, corn syrup, and water which, as the popsicle starts to thaw, begins to droop and flop and bears absolutely no resemblance to anything else that can become long and floppy over time thank you next question-

2.WHAT WORLD RECORD WAS BROKEN ON THE SET OF THIS TROLLI GUMMI COMMERCIAL?

The world record for most Trolli Gummi Popsicles consumed in less than an hour was broken by Scott Watson during this shoot, with Scott consuming 78 Trolli Gummi Popsicles in a row. The fact that he both survived this experience and still loves these popsicles says all you need to know about how good these popsicles really are.

3.WAS THERE REALLY A GIANT MAMA WORM ON SET?

Rebecca “Mama Worm” Trolli is both a real giant gummy worm mother and a seasoned actress, viewers may remember her from Trolli’s other strange commercials, the episode of the Sopranos with the talking fish head, and a sold-out broadway run as Grizabella in CATS.

4.YOU SEEM TO PLAY A LOT OF SECURITY GUARDS, SCOTT, WHY IS THAT?

My combination of Dad-Bod and mustache seems to perfectly match the ideal body-type / look for most security guards in America and to our bored, underpaid, dorkily outfitted security guard heroes of malls and upscale condo buildings out there, I salute you.
